Ice Harbor South Shore Storage Facility

2763 Monument Drive
Burbank, WA

The Ice Harbor South Shore Storage Building was constructed for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to store new hydro-electric turbines for the Ice Harbor Dam. Due to the extreme weight of the turbines; the entire building site was excavated to the depth of the foundation bearing and re-compacted with processed material, to assure maximum subgrade density was achieved for the 8 inch reinforced concrete slab. The structure has a floor area of 11,200 SF and there are two 5,000 SF exterior concrete aprons on each end of the building. The building is constructed of structural steel members and is cladded with insulated wall and roof panels.  On each end of the building there are 20 ft. X 20 ft. electric overhead coiling doors to allow the turbines to be towed in and out. The project also required the installation of over 860 linear feet of underground electrical power distribution, including 5 new vaults and a transformer.
